App: QRly (com.qrly.qrscanner)

1. Overview & Commitment to Privacy

Welcome to QRly: QR Scanner & Generator ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a secure, transparent experience.

QRly is built as an offline-first utility app. We do not require you to create an account, register with your email address, or log in. We do not maintain any cloud database, remote user profiles, or tracking servers.

Key Takeaway: Your scanned QR codes, created barcodes, and history records remain 100% locally on your physical device. We never sell, rent, or monetize your personal scan content.

2. Android Permissions We Request & Why

To provide core QR and barcode utilities, the app requests the following system permissions:

A. Camera Permission (android.permission.CAMERA)

Purpose: Used exclusively to access your device's camera viewfinder for detecting and decoding QR codes and barcodes in real-time.

Data Protection: Video frames are analyzed locally in real-time using on-device vision algorithms (Google ML Kit). No camera frames, photos, or audio recordings are ever saved, stored, or transmitted outside your device. Camera access ceases immediately when you leave the scanner screen.

B. Photo Library / Storage Access

Purpose: Required only when you explicitly select an image from your device's photo gallery to scan a QR code, or when you tap "Save to Gallery" to export a QR image you created.

Data Protection: The app only accesses the specific image you manually pick. We never scan, index, or upload your photo library.

C. Vibration (android.permission.VIBRATE)

Purpose: Provides optional haptic feedback when a barcode or QR code is successfully detected. You can disable this anytime in the app settings.

D. Network & Internet (android.permission.INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE)

Purpose: Required by the Google Mobile Ads SDK to serve non-intrusive banner and interstitial advertisements, and to allow you to open scanned web links in your preferred browser when you tap them.

3. Third-Party Services & Advertisements

To keep QRly free for all users, we utilize third-party advertising services:

Google AdMob (Google LLC)

We use Google AdMob to display advertisements within the app. AdMob may collect and process pseudonymous identifiers, such as your device’s Google Advertising ID (AAID), IP address, and general diagnostic information to serve ads and prevent fraudulent activity.

You can review Google’s privacy practices by visiting:
Google Privacy Policy & Terms
How Google uses information from sites or apps that use their services

Ad-Free Option: You can permanently remove all advertisements by purchasing the "QRly Pro / Remove Ads" upgrade inside the app settings.

4. Data Storage, Retention & Deletion

All data generated within the app—including scan history, custom QR codes, and user preferences—is stored locally in your device's private sandbox storage (using Android SharedPreferences).

  • Zero Cloud Sync: We do not operate remote servers that collect or store your history.
  • Instant User Control: You can delete any individual scan or wipe your entire history at any time from the History or Settings screen with a single tap.
  • Uninstalling the App: Uninstalling QRly immediately and irreversibly deletes all stored history and preference data from your device.

For detailed instructions on data removal, please consult our Data Deletion Policy.

5. Children’s Online Privacy (COPPA & GDPR Compliance)

Our application is a general-utility tool and is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Union). We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will promptly address the inquiry.

6. Security

Because QRly processes all data locally on your device without transmitting records over the internet, your scan content is naturally protected by Android's built-in application sandboxing and permission safeguards.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect technological updates or changes in legal regulations. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date.
